Setting the emerald cut horizontally lets its long step facets run across the finger instead of along it, so the ring looks modern and understated even with a 2CT stone. Each corner is held by a pair of claw prongs, the low basket keeps the stone close to the hand, and the slightly wider band balances the width of the stone. It sits neatly next to a straight wedding band.
