Moissanite vs. diamond: Moissanite is a genuine, lab-created gemstone — not a diamond substitute like cubic zirconia. It scores 9.25 on the Mohs hardness scale (diamond is 10), so it holds up well to everyday wear, and it actually reflects more fire and brilliance than a diamond. Because it's lab-grown, moissanite typically costs 80-90% less than a diamond of the same size, which is why it lets you choose a larger, more brilliant stone for the same budget. It's also inherently conflict-free.
